Lived here for 20 years, brought up my family here, so close too the cbd, never had any trouble with crime. Love my life here

Looking for a home in Windsor Gardens?

"The position of this suburb being around 10 km from the CBD is an investors dream. Plenty of redevelopment happening in this area. My prediction Windsor gardens median price will be upwards of 700k in the near future. All about location location."

"Excellent value for close to the city"

Windsor Gardens is a developing suburb, with old, ugly 1950s and 60s era houses being bulldozed and subdivided into new, modern houses. This creates an interesting demographic, combining elderly and retired people in the older houses, with younger people, often renters or recent migrants, in the newer ones. There does not seem to be a large proportion of couples with families. There is a mix of wealthy and poorer residents judging by the cars on the streets.

The best thing about Windsor Gardens is arguably its proximity to the city, to which it is possible to drive to in 15 minutes, or bus to (via the Klemzig O-Bahn station) in approximately the same amount of time. There are no pleasant restaurant strips in Windsor Gardens; main roads are very ugly with a dearth of street trees, an abundance of stobie poles, and a degree of light industrial premises; nearby shopping centres at Greenacres, Gilles Plains and Marden are acceptable. Pleasant places to shop and eat in Prospect, North Adelaide and Norwood are all accessible within 15 minutes so this is not a big issue.

Windsor Gardens is pleasant to live in, and I'd recommend it. It is certainly 'up and coming'. However, it could potentially be a premium suburb if the light industrial moved out, the older houses were all bulldozed, main roads were upgraded, and a shopping and restaurant precinct developed.

"Fantastic value for money"

Windsor gardens has something for everyone. Being such a large area it has a very wide house price range.Spending most of my time on Riverglen drive, Moore st and Brady They are very beautiful picturesque and on the Linear park with plenty of open space, play grounds and the odd adventure at the river fishing for yabbies.
Opportunities abound with the old weather board housing being bought by first home buyers or replaced by brand new homes at affordable prices.
shopping in the area is a breeze with at least three shopping centres within 5 min drive.
GP, banking facilities and dental services provided both at the Greenacre and Holden hill shopping centres.
there is a little bit of light industrial business at the north east rd end with mechanic shops, car yards, plumbing retailers and the windsor pub making it not as popular a spot.

  • Schools,shopping centres and medical facilities in close proximity

I personally think people are overpaying for this suburb, it still has a lot of residents experiencing social disadvantage (ie Housing SA homes), and that means more crime and other annoying things. I also noticed that there are a lot of old fibro houses in the area which bring the ambience down. Bank SA has a house at Windsor Gardens valued at $468,000 as at 22/8/20 but real agents are wanting heaps more. I think sellers need to be more realistic. Just because one is 11 kms to the City ,or close to a walk track doesn't justify the huge buying prices now on the market. Anyone looking at buying at Windsor Gardens, may first want to go shopping at Giles Plains Shopping Centre. I know this sounds 'snobby' but I'm just being realistic. You end up paying too much and then feel unsafe. No thanks not for me. BTW I have been to heaps of opens and done my own research around this area before I wrote this but never lived in it.

"It Dosen't Get Much Better Than Windsor Gardens!"

Windsor Gardens is located in the heart of The City of Port Adelaide Enfield, with some excellent facilities. Public Transport is inspiring with buses running on the Adelaide O' Bahn, Paradise Interchange, and Klemzig Station. Windsor Gardens has well-kept parks, River Torrens is excellent for having a BBQ on a lovely day, kids (and adults) riding there bikes, and feeding the ducks and pelicans is a real highlight!

It is incredibly safe and peaceful 24/7! Its only 15 mins from the city. So move to Windsor Gardens and fall in love!!
P.S: The neighbours are lovely and friendly, the actually say hello when you are walking in the street, parks or along the River Torrens.

Rentals in Windsor Gardens

"Not a bad place to start"

There are a lot of rental properties and some tenants do not look after their property. The area is improving with the demolition of older homes and construction of new homes. The new homes are usually standard projects homes and have 2 to 3 of the same home crammed onto what once was one bock of land. The Shopping in the area is below average. There are 3 shopping centres close by but all are in desperate need of a facelift. As far as cafés and dinning goes you are better off heading towards Norwood as there is no real café or boutique shopping area. If you are into fast food this is the area for you with KFC, Mc Donald’s, Hungry Jacks, Faster Pasta and Subway (just to name a few) all down North East Road. There is the linear park and river Torrens which make the area good for walking and bike riding. One thing to be aware of is a lot of Windsor Gardens is on the flight path and while they are not super noisy you will notice some of them fly over. As far as the people go there is a combination of retirees, first home buyers and immigrants.

"A hidden gem being redeveloped in a great location"

A hidden gem that is being redeveloped. Just up Northeast road past Klemzig there were a lot of trust homes in here. A few nice rises and fall in the area makes it seem like you are in the foothills. It’s well established and nice and green. While there are still some unattractive streets and a few old trust homes they are definitely in the minority now. There are a lot of new courtyard homes which have been well built and have made the area much for attractive.

There are also some amazingly attractive areas with 3 bedroom homes.

There is a bus route that runs through Windsor Gardens and Northeast road provides a good run into the city.

It’s an easy drive to the city and there is easy access to both Klemzig and paradise stations on the Obahn making the trip into the city really quick.

There are a few good shops close by and even a stadium for indoor cricket and netball.
