Reviews of Woolgoolga, NSW

"NSW's best kept secret!"

We have travelled around Aus for the past 10 months looking for a new place to call home! Woopi is that place! The patrolled beach is a stunner, as will be the 1.2 million $ redevelopment of the waterfront seeing a new large inclusive playground, picnic tables and restrooms put in. The main street is buzzing with eateries, boutiques and alternative clothes. No mainstream takeaways except for Subway but that adds to it's charm and sense of supporting local! It does have a large newish Woolworths to supplement the local Butcher, Bakery and little local fruit and vege stores! The people are lovely!! It has a large RSL and tavern (with a kids zone) for meals or drinks.

The downside we can't wait to start our lives in such a vibrant community but rentals are slim pickings and up there for price. So we may be in for the long haul to secure a rental. The outer suburbs are all pretty amazing too. Sapphire Beach and Emerald Beach are on the fav list! The Moonee Beach Markets are awesome, where you will find Coles, Best and Less alongside little eateries and the best public toilets you will ever use. The Moonee Beach Tav is set up so well for families with a dedicated outside play area and nightly specials. 20 mins down the road is the convenience of Coffs for more shopping options and everything else you can think of!!

"Beautiful...and growing"

Where I grew up. The views off the headland are second to none, as are the beaches. Aside from a few unavoidable small town issues, this is the place to be.

Great for

  • Close to Coffs Harbour
  • Great for outdoor activities
  • Quiet and freindly

"Love it"

We searched up and down the east coast, from Harvey Bay down to Eden, looking for where we would like to put down roots and raise our family.... Woolgoolga won! It has the great small town friendly feel and is also only 15mins away from the city resources of Coffs Harbour.

The Pacific Highway will bypass Woolgoolga in another 3 years, thus increasing the property values - especially on the current western side of the highway. The building of the bypass is already underway!

Friendly people, family friendly and safe (only police/fire station between Grafton and Coffs).

We love it here and would happily recommend it to others.... some of our friends are looking to move here too.

"Laid back beach town"

It's a real life 'Summer Bay' 20 minutes North of Coffs Harbour. Beautiful clean beaches' perfect for swimming, snorkelling, fishing, kayaking and surfing. Protected boat ramp on main beach makes it easy to get to good fishing spots or to the Solitary Island Marine Park for great scuba diving. Big headland is one of the best in the country for whale watching as they make their annual pilgrimage along the East coast. Good restaurants and shopping mean it's a self sufficient little town, with Coffs only 20 minutes away. Lots of good quiet surfing beaches, estuaries and a golf course nearby make it a great place to holiday, or if your lucky enough, live.

"Woolgoolga - Holiday at the beach"

Great beachside town just approx 25kms north of Coffs Harbour. Woolgoolga has clean unspoilt beaches and provides great surf, swimming, snorkelling and diving and whales can been seen on their annual migration along the coast. Fishing is also fairly good here both boat and land based. There are marine parks to visit as well as an art gallery, see the Sikh Temple which is open 7 days a week. 4 kms from Woolgoolga is the flora reserve where you can walk the track and see some amazing rainforest. There is some good accommodation here with caravan parks, hotel and motels as well as B & B’s. There are plenty of shops, eateries and clubs as well as a golf course and swimming pool. Ideal place for a long weekend or extended beachside holiday.
