Usually a quiet street in a small town. It is a optional main thoroughfare in and out of town. Speeds signs are generally disregarded and footpaths don't exist so families with little children should realise, Woongar Street can be treacherous for old or young pedestrians or cyclists.

The towns famous "Jetty Restaurant" is gone and great camping grounds reduced because of their real estate market value. They have been dormant for many years waiting for a "big spender". Boreen Point has the best Pub in the Noosa Shire and also has two local shops which sell food and papers.

The Lake Coothararba Sailing Club is renowned.

Woongar Street is elevated well above flood levels and many residents have partial views looking north into the lake and national park beyond. Most properties on the northern side of Woongar Street have very steep back yards which fall towards the lake.

Some houses in Woongar Street have two street frontages. These suffer from boat ramp traffic enormously. Boaties rig, embark, reverse trailers, start motors and disregard residents 'very very early' all year. Parking is critical at certain times. Sleeping in can be difficult in this street boatramp area at certain times.

The area is growing rapidly and so is the boating and lake activity.

The Shire soon seems to be consumed into a 'supershire' and unknown development changes will occur.The laid back town may diminish.

Still many families have their holiday homes here and use them or rent them.
This is why there is very little community spirit compared to some towns.
Still, many think it is idyllic and sailing heaven for small craft and windsurfers or just skooting around at sunset.

The town exists on tank water and septic or similar systems. The lake is fed by a huge catchment basin and flushes out 2-3 every year. The latest flood of any problematic size was 2007 (August ) and previously in 1992 when the lake rose 'overnight' to 3.5 metres. Buying low lying land away or near to Boreen Point should be considered with caution because of rapid and isolating rising water within every 10-20 years
