Why is it called THE RISK area just outside Kyogle?

We have been told by a long term resident of The Risk that John Wilson who first settled in the area, rode over the mountain and said he would take "The Risk".

My Grand parents ( Bowers ) owned the property called ‘The Risk ‘ my grandfather was the headmaster at the little primary school there.
