Yes there are ticks here. It is a huge problem. We lost our dog to a paralysis tick shortly after we moved here back in 1997. My daughter is a vet nurse at the local vet and they put up a tally of the number tick cases treated. The number was around l00 last time I checked.

no not a problem, but new beith is feral, wild packs of dogs rooming the streets because hardly any owners shut their gates, 3 people have been attacked in my street by pitballs, too much hooning in general, crime greenbank shops broken into (ram raded) nearly once a week, but on the positive side the nature in the area is the drawcard and greenbank udia development isn't goign ahead.

It seems that the present New Beith is very much different from the review you posted months back. What do you think may have contributed to the increase in crime and hooning?

Sorry If i have been misleading, the thing is nearly 15 years ago when some of the first estates such as Teviot Downs started it was one of the quietest, arguably best places to live with virtually no crime, hooning and lots of wildlife. But now there is the new greenbank shops, flagstone is rapidly expanding and alot more people going through the area. Overall, though new beith is great for wildlife, but hooning, dog attacks, crime are all serious problems much unreported by the media. In the last years living at new beith there was a truck blown up by a sparkler bomb, at least 3 dog attacks, hoons ripping up our front lawn and a few unsuccuessful break and enters into our home. Also when have had 4 car being burnt out near our home in the bush at night time stolen from the greenbank shops. Therefor, new beith was one of the greatest areas to live in but not any more. I may update my original review to better reflect this.

That's a shame to hear that, especially the attempted break ins. Does the hooning/dog attacks extend as far as the spring mountain area too do you know? I hope things start to improve soon for everyone.

We are in Spring Mountain Acreage Estate and it has been nothing but pleasant. No idiots in cars hooning as the estate does come to an end. Difficult to get out if youre caught by the police or locals if youre doing something wrong / against the law. Makes it a good quality place to live. We have wonderful neighbours too!!!
