Reviews of Robertson Street, Fortitude Valley

"Cosmopolitan Lifestyle in the Heart of the Valley"

Situated between bustling Brunswick and the trendy James St precinct, this street offers the gateway between the exciting nightlife of The Valley and the boutique stores, restaurants and entertainment of James Street. Perfect for those looking to experience all the Valley has to offer in an unbeatable location close to public transport, shops, bars and restaurants, the leafy, tree-lined Robertson St also provides an urban oasis of calm amongst these busy streetscapes, offering the best of both worlds.

"Trendsetter's delight!"

After moving to sunny QLD from living in the hustle and bustle of inner city Sydney, many friends told us to steer away from the Valley due to excessive noise pollution etc, but I have to say now having lived her for over 2 years there is nowhere I'd rather be! We have the best of both worlds with Brunswick St on one end and James St precinct on the other. Whether it is some light retail therapy, a casual stroll the cinema or a couple of drinks with friends at nearby bars...this area never fails to impress and you are always discovering something new around a corner. There is so much happening what with the newly completed showstopping Miro building that will soon house even more cafes/boutiques. In my (somewhat) biassed opinion, Robertson Street is the most aesthetic in the Valley, it is treelined unlike Arthur and nearby streets that still have under maintained older style Queenslander homes, we have much more modern and trendy medium density housing and funky commercial studios that are all in keeping with the modern street character which is the usual appeal of the Valley. As for the noise, almost all complexes including ours (which is Viva) have reasonable curfews that are well respected by residents and after 11pm you could hear a mouse! I lived in Spring Hill briefly when I first moved to the Sunny state and it was far more noisy than the Valley has ever been for me. I'd highly recommend Robertson as 'the' street for singles, but couples too-we even have Child Care centre on our street to cater for those with young families. Resale values are remaining strong even in this climate - being less than 1km from the CBD this makes for a sound investment in a growing market. We tend to get a little congested on the Brunswick end in terms of traffic around 5-5:30pm weekdays but this usually clears up quickly thanks to traffic lights (most people tend to travel by foot because we are so close to everything anyway!) Everybody is friendly, approachable and just enjoying life. Like anywhere, if you are going to fine dine nightly, party very hard and want all the usual trappings then of course it is going to be expensive to live here so unless you have very good will power you may want to set a budget and stick to it! It goes without saying there is ample transport, educational and medical facilities. I keep a good eye on this market as we are considering buying again (more like upgrading) but one thing is for sure, we won't be moving from this street, we are here to stay! We have it all in abundance at Robertson, so come join us!
