Third Street

"A friendly, quiet, street where everyone says hello."

Third St is probably one of the best of the numbered streets in Parkdale. It is the widest, the most treed the only traffic are residents because it is not a thoroughfare llike some of the others. All my neighbours were there long before we moved in 10 years ago and because of that we all care for each other, watch over things when anyone goes away and help out if need be. Everyone knows each others name and even if you don't we all still say hello and have a chat in the street. It is very difficult to buy into this area because no-one moves once they are in. It is central to all the good schools, walking distance to all the shops and cafes and an easy 5 minute walk to the beach. Best of all it is the right side of the railway lline so in the morning you avoid all the delays at the rail crossing, just scoot out the end of the street and you are on Nepean Hwy in seconds.Kids can walk to everything so no Mum taxi needed here. It is great.

Parkdale

"Parkdale has everything and more."

Parkdale really is one of the best beachside suburbs. It has excellent schools, private and public for all ages. Great sports facilities, great shopping, the best public transport in the area. The best beach with sand, not rocks and easy access from the street (don't have to abseil to get down like some of our neighbouring suburbs). We have the best small little shopping village with an abundance of great cafes and little eateries to dine at. We have the cafe right on the beach as well. Supermarkets, excellent fruit/veg shops, great speciality shops and good pubs and restaurants for any cuisine. The people or friendly, mostly young families. On weekends everyone gets out and about, walking through the many parks and gardens or along the beach. We have great walking trails and bike trails along the beach and families are out having a coffee and walking around all weekend, it is like a holiday lifestyle but just 25 minutes and you are in Melbourne CBD. We love it.

sorry bud. the govt schools are shithouse as they are in most places. A river of drugs and tattooed bogans, but that is now everywhere according to the Mordialloc police. It's nice enough in Parkdale and certainly better than the western suburbs, but this country is going down the shithole courtesy of our wonderful politicians and Parkdale is not immune.

Parkdale is lovely. I have to agree re the govt school though. Kids seem to walk in the front gate and walk straight back out the back door. Delinquency with gangs of teenagers definitely becoming a problem.
