Kuni's on Little Bourke is one of my favourite... nothing exciting but very reliable quality and service

Hako on Flinders Lane for sure! Ichi Ni Izakaya on the Esplanade in St Kilda and Matsumoto on Lygon St, Brunswick East is a relaxed favourite.

Hi Brian,

Fantastic list here! I'm going to put my 2 cents in and say Momotaro on Bridge Road. Great food. You should give it a go!

Ocha in Kew is very good... certainly comparable to any Japanese restaurant in the CBD.

Actually I'm with JVS on this, has anyone been to Nobu in the city? I have heard mixed reviews.

Wabi Sabi should be number one Brian. Traditional country food and brilliant service. Shame it's so hard to get in. Now it's going to be harder!!!

The numbers are not a rank! Merely the order I entered them into the local list.

I'm now curious about Wabi Sabi, will have to join the queue.

Misuzu in Albert Park is pretty good for country style food as well. A little pricey though.

For those out south-east, there are two good restaurants - one in Doncaster - Kobe Teppanyaki (great entertainment value!) and Yokohama Teppanyaki in Century City Walk in Glen Waverley
