Alone, public transport about $40 (weekday) to $30 (weekend), SkyBus then Metro train to Clayton Station before Bus/ Taxi to your destination. If it is Monash University, go to Huntingdale Station then take a bus from there.
More than one traveling, take a taxi $80 - $100 depending on traffic, but it usually is okay as you will bypass the city to the southeast, hope this helps.
