Is New Farm a good neighbourhood for raising kids?

Ive read good comments about New Farm lifestyle in terms of cafes, restaurants, parks etc but not much about it being family friendly. Rent is more expensive than other suburbs and we will be driving 30 min each way to work, we are wondering if its worth for what the neighbourhood has?

Hey Patricia, New Farm is a beautiful suburb for a family.

I take my daughter there most weekends, there is the New Farm Park which has activities on most weekends, The Powerhouse which also has festivals and a farmers market every other weekend, and it is on the river which means you can go for a beautiful walk after work (especially good in summer when the sun sets a bit later)!

I am sure it’s great if you are affluent however there are probably better options for a family still nearby which don’t have the inner city traffic problems of being in a pocket and don’t have to deal with the valley nightlife. Go to suburb a little closer to your workplaces to reduce commute and you can still enjoy New Farm on the weekends.

Hi, what do you mean by pocket? Is new farm safe in your opinion? Considering moving there myself soon and not too keen on living somewhere with the same crowd as the valley where Ive spent the past month!
