Reviews of Ashford, SA

"Safe and close to the city"

Been living in Ashford last 4 years and must say it's a safe and lovely place. Easy access to the city and pretty cheap rentals. People living here are mostly young couples or families, and occasionally you might hear people playing music loud on the weekend or some argument but that's as bad as it can get.

Units on Everard Ave have very old copper wires and NBN in not accessible yet. Unstable internet after extreme weather or anyone fiddling around with the wires.
Everard Ave busy around 5pm with not many parking places available.
Not many lunch bars or restaurants but its's close enough to Richmond Rd that has some places /not counting McDonald's and KFC on Anzac Hwy).
Not many parks except one playground for kids.

Overall - good area!

Looking for a home in Ashford?

"Super Convenient and Affordable"

Ashford is a great spot to live, it's perfectly located within close proximity to the CBD and Beach. Most streets are quiet however I find the busiest thoroughfare would be Everard Ave (it cuts through Ashford from Anzac Hwy and connects to South Rd). During business hours it can be difficult getting a park along the Everard Ave however at night it's quite easy.

Prices of homes in the area are still inexpensive in comparison to other city fringe suburbs and there is a great mixture of modern, character homes plus units within the area.

Great for

  • Convenience to the CBD and Beach
  • Easy public transport
  • Ashford Hospital

Not great for

  • There is a lack of local take-away shops
  • Busy around the Ashford Hospital

"Ashford - A city fringe suburb that takes you only 8 minutes to drive into the centre of the CBD"

Located in between Glenelg beach and the Adelaide CBD, Ashford is a small suburb which features Ashford Hospital and Ashford Special School. The recently built Tennyson Medical Centre is also within walking distance. Centro Shopping Centre at Kurralta Park is the closest shopping precint other than the city. The Centro Shopping Complex contains an OPSM, Flight Centre, Newsagent, Nando's, Michel's Patisserie, K-Mart, Bakers Delight, Liquorland and Coles. The Coles is extremely convenient and is open until 9pm most nights and re-opens again at midnight. On Anzac Highway you are also close to many furniture shops like DeLights, Jimmy Possum, Taste Furniture, LeCornu's and Jag Kitchens.

Great for

  • Ashford Hospital
  • 8 Minutes Drive Into The CBD
  • Close to city, great location for gouger street dining
  • Easy public transport
  • Good shopping centre on Anzac hwy, 5 minutes away

"Great location so close to the city"

I just love it, it's a great central location with close proximity to the city and the bay. Not many know the suburb but everyone in Adelaide knows Lecornu's on Anzac hwy. Ashford is the opposite side of Anzac hwy to lecornu's.

Great for

  • Close to city, great location for gouger street dining
  • Easy public transport
  • Good shopping centre on Anzac hwy, 5 minutes away

Not great for

  • I can't think of any, lived here for 10 years!!!!

Rentals in Ashford

"A Hidden secret"

Ashford is hidden away close to the city (3Kms) and the beach (9 Kms). South of the Ashford Hospital is a mixture of Bungalow and Tudor style homes. Access to Anzac Hwy is easy off peak hours and alternative ways of getting mobile during peak times are numerous. Public transport is a stroll away ,as are medical and various shopping outlets. A genuine inner suburb of quality and prestige. Highly recommended.
