The shooting in Aurora was really sad, is the suburb a dangerous place in general?

I have a different opinion than Kristin. There have been shooting incidents in the past at the Aurora Mall, which is right next to the theater where the shooting happened. There has also been some gang activity in recent years. The mall itself has a prominent security force that is always around, unlike any other mall I know of in Colorado. While it isn't the worst part of town, it does have it's undesirables. Let's just say I wouldn't take my kids there, but maybe I'm overly cautious. It's unfortunate too, because across Alameda Avenue to the north is a great area for shopping and dining.

Not at all. The suburb is usually very safe, which is partly why the shooting came as such a shock and a tragedy to the community. Except for a few areas around Colfax, Aurora is generally a suburban area of Denver - not known for a lot of crime.
