Whats the best suburb in the Menai District

Hi Andew,
I am from just across the river like you have mentioned and wonder if I could ask you, where would you personally live in the district?
I am quite happy with all the suburbs in the 2234 postcode area however I would like to know much more inside information (which is what this site should help with!).
For example, according to police records, I hear that Bangor is the safest suburb in the whole Sutherland district whereas on the other side of the scale Engadine not as much.
Going along with the good news for Bangor, if you did a comprehensive car quote with certain insurance companies and for the same details throughout (age, car, history etc) its interesting to note that Bangor comes out the cheapest yet Illawong suprisingly is the more expensive, with Menai, Alfords Point and Barden Ridge all in between. There is not massive differences in price but surely they have reasoning for this.
Many of the site reviews of the area and street reviews are done by real estate agents and I have found that all its doing is helping agents own interests here and not struggling home buyers, especially first timers...
Thanks for the information you have provided and I am keen to hear more of yours and others input on this...
Hi Marko,
We live in Bangor and are in the middle of renovating a home built when I was my son's age. We look out to a bushland valley and it's very very quiet. Bangor suits us for work (it's 1500m to the office, I don't even have a stop sign on the way), schools and the types of homes are easy to ad value to and are usually on bigger blocks. You look like you have done plenty of home work, it's interesting with the insurance rates. Home is where you hang your hat, just don't over extend your self, it's much easier to grind down a smaller loan and if you are living in the Shire you're a winner in any suburb, just don't tell too many people. Cheers
Bangor is indeed not bad and generally lacking the 'bored youth' problems of Sutherland and Engadine however it is a little isolated (although woolies will be setting up soon, in addition to the one 5min away at Menai) and there is the occasional whiff a couple of days a year from the tip at Lucas Heights.
Hi Jade,
I have lived in Barden Ridge for about a year & have never experienced the "occasional whiff" from the tip. Is this something that has improved or should I expect this at some point.
Must say I love this area and the community feel. Would highly recommend Bangor/Menai/Barden Ridge to anyone and am very happy with the choice to move to this area
