"Great Place for Families"
Banks is a pleasant little suburb. It is the southernmost suburb located 21 kms from Canberra. The suburb's incline runs west north west. This is perfect for hang gliders who take off from Big Monks Mountain located to the east of the of Banks and can be seen gliding across the suburb. It is just beyond the Rob Roy Nature park, which is the perfect place to explore with the children on a sunny afternoon. You may even see horse riders as you explore the bush tracks.
It has a very small local shopping centre, which is perfect to top up those daily necessities. It is a very family friendly area, as the blocks are big, allowing ample room for the family back yard.

I have been living in Banks for about 3 years. It is a pretty, quiet and safe suburb with a myriad of interconnected cycling and walking paths and lots of green open space. I read somewhere that 30 per cent of Banks comprises parks and nature reserves. While it is about 20 kms from the city, road access is excellent via the Parkway. Public transport is quite good. Neighbours are friendly and genuinely helpful if needed. The suburb is diverse with families, singles and retirees all living here. It is very close to the Murrumbidgee river recreational areas, national parks, and it is lovely walking or cycling around Lake Tuggeranong, about 5 kms away. Tuggeranong shopping is growing due to the developments around the lake. I enjoy living here and recommend you check it out if youre thinking about living in a clean, safe and neighbourly place.
