I'm looking for a quiet, affordable, close to public transport and safe suburb for my retirement.

I've lived in Cheltenham for the last 20 years and although it's a great suburb it is unafffordable. According to the reviews Bayswater seems like it could be suitable and I would love honest opinions (pros and cons) from people who have lived there and are in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!
I'm also interested in surrounding suburbs, as long as they are serviced by a train line.
If possible I would love to discuss more by phone, but if not a description of your experiences in Bayswater on this forum would be very helpful as I want to mitigate the risk of moving to suburb where I don't know anyone.

The City of Knox in general is a great place to live and for such reasons as it has plenty of open space, tree lined neighborhoods and streets and great local shopping centres, cafes and restaurants. Housing wise, there are a number of suburbs within Knox such as Boronia, Bayswater, Ferntree Gully that are all easily accessible to the train stations and is there is a good mix of homes as well as units and retirement villages. Hope this helps with your inquiry.
