Recent reviews on Beeliar

Was wondering if anybody had any recent reviews on Beeliar? We are looking for places to move to from Victoria and have found it to be a pretty central location (I'll be working in Rockingham, my partner in the city..) and have found quite a few places in the area that a new and affordable...but on looking at reviews of the area there seems to be mixed reviews (particularly when you remove the obvious reviews from sales people) Is it generally a safe area for dog walking and kids and general life? What is the local pub/shopping centre like? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
