Any really great day trips from Boulder?

The little gold mining towns of Gold Hill and Jamestown are a fun and really a quick 45 minute drive from Boulder, but you can not get up there at all right now because of flood wash out. Someone told me that people up in Gold Hill are finding gold along some of the old mines where is washed out whole hillsides. But thats just a rumor but kinda interesting.
A tour of the peak to peak from central city, to Estes is worth the trip especially in the fall.
It's only 78 miles to either Winter Park or the Frisco area (Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper, A-Basin) = less than 1.5 hours if the roads are dry and it's not prime time driving. Whether its snow-sports, hiking/biking, fishing, golf, or high-altitude air, there is lots to do and it's super close. Visitors also tend to drive an hour north to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park (Headwaters to the Colorado River). EP is a cute little town with lots of taffy shops and shopping, and RMNP is a great place to spend the day taking photos.
so cool i love geology:)
