Are there many malls in Boulder?

What's the best one and is it indoor or outdoor?

There are no "malls" in Boulder, meaning there are no enclosed traditional American malls. Just out of town in Broomfield is Flatirons Mall and there is the run down Twin Peaks Mall in Longmont. There is the 29th street area that is an outdoor mall where the shops and restaurants line the roadways & don't forget the beautiful Pearl Street pedestrian mall in downtown Boulder, it is the centre of town and most social happenings.

The current trend in malls is moving away from the large indoor mall with mostly chain stores to more open air malls with more boutique stores and a mix of residential, offices and restuarants. The Pearl Street mall has been around since I originally moved to Boulder in the late 1970's. The 29th Street mall area was also much like it is now at that time, and was converted to a large indoor mall ( Crossroads ) in the early 1980's. Interesting how trends change and then come back around again. You may have also noticed that the old indoor Westminster mall is now being converted to an open air mall similar to 29th St. in Boulder and the Orchards Town Center on I-25 and 144th.
