Canaryville is walkable like any other neighborhood in Chicago. In Back of the Yards there are a lot of vacant lots and things like that, so there's not much to walk TO I guess. If you're seeing some sights there you'd be better off driving in between them. If you live in the area you'd be fine, but a car might be good to have.
