Public transportation from Central Sunset to the rest of San Francisco is actually pretty good:
You have light rail into the city via West Portal on Taraval and east west Muni lines on Noriega, Judah and Quintera. You really are better off using these to get into the city rather than paying the astronimically high parking prices.
