Moving from another state. Don't know where to live and need local insight!
Oh, by the way, we are looking for an apartment and would like to spend around $1500 a month, but can go as high as $2100.
Thanks for the help everyone!

There are so many great neighborhoods to live in! Tom and I raised our 3 children in the city just so we could enjoy the "diversity" - I expect you'll truly love living in Chicago! As of today, there are 213 apartments for rent (2 -3 BR, $1500-210/month) near the city's center. Several questions to ask: 1) is living near an exellent public school a priority? 2) do you have pets? 3) parking - getting an apartment with 1 car is fairly easy, but if you need a garage for 2, it may be a challenge. 4) commute - do you need to live near specific transportation routes? the lakefront? When looking for an apartment, availability changes rapidly. Chicago used to have key rent dates- May 1 and October 1, but as more and more families stayed in the city, these dates are less critical, and new listings are regularly available.
