One of my favorite places in Chicagoland
The Morton Arboretum.
Love it. LOVE.
Admittedly, I was less than excited on my first visit there. I though it would be just trees and really boring- especially with the kids. I was so happy to be wrong.
It boasts an amazing childrens' garden which is simply indescribable: tree houses, streams to play in, mazes, a pond with stepping stones, slides etc. It is super fun. My kids love going there and I have an amazing time there too. Check it out!

I agree, it's a great place. Although it's a ways outside of the city.
