Is the stretch of Ludlow from McAlpin to Clifton Ave safe to walk at night?

I am a UC student looking to move to an apartment off Ludlow. UC has a shuttle stop at Whitfield but then I would have to walk almost a mile to my building. Is that stretch safe to walk all times of day and night?
