There are a lot of private swimming pools in Hawthorndene but the closest public pool would be at the Blackwood Fitness Centre but you'd probably need to be a member. Of course around 10 minutes drive will get you to the SA Aquatic Centre at Marion which is quite new and is holding the national swimming championships there at the moment. I personally take my children for swimming lessons at Blue Dolphin Swimming Centre at Happy Valley which takes less than 20 mins to drive there. In summer there is a great outdoor swimming centre at Marion with plenty of lush lawn to picnic on and a water slide.
