What's around Clyde Street

House description

“Your Home Address, Your Business Address or Both”

The Property's History

The property at 14 Clyde Street was built by the Kelly family in 1907 who then established the Maclean Bakery on the premises. The original chimney that housed the oven currently remains in the kitchen and the older residents of Maclean remember the beautiful bakery products being displayed in the large front window of the home.

Mr Kelly was an important community member of the time suggesting that Clyde Street be the Main Street of Maclean due to it being a safer distance from the river. However this did not eventuate.

In those days the Kelly family owned the land behind the property through to Morven Street where sheds were erected for storage of meat and other produce. The large Kelly family ran the bakery for many years before leasing it out to other bakers who continued to supply the local community.

Later, three of the Kelly girls returned to the home where music was taught, with the front room on the left side of the house being used as the piano room. Some of our residents still remember the Kelly music emanating from the front of the home and the lessons that were given there over the years.

The historic nature of the house lent itself for selection as the setting for the Australian film "Fields of Fire" made here in the Clarence Valley in the late 1980's. This movie told the story of the early cane industry of the region and for many years the house was remembered by this association with the movie.

The home remained a residence, owned by a local family who resided in it until the early 1990's. The original features of the house have been preserved both inside and out and it is a wonderful example of federation architecture. This building is an important part of the history of the establishment of the Maclean township.

The Property Today

For the past 30 years the house has been utilised by community services and allied health staff who continue to provide the increasing health services to the Lower Clarence community. Over this time it has been well maintained and kept true to its heritage.

This charming historical property at 14 Clyde Street Maclean is offered for sale with the existing service providers, Physiotherapist and Speech Therapist each with their own designated offices, continuing to operate their businesses.

In the event an investor requires the existing tenancy to be formalised than leases are available to be implemented, providing a stable income from the property. If the interested purchaser wants to establish a business or make 14 Clyde Street their home, and we can understand why, the property can be offered with vacant possession.

We can all feel the energy and revitalisation this Historic River Town of Maclean is presently enjoying. As many predicted, it was only a matter of time before the eye catching town's street scapes, with the valley and river vistas at every turn and importantly a warm and welcoming country community, would achieve the recognition and investment that will make it a much more desirable place to live and invest well into the future.

Sale prices today in Maclean will be viewed as a bargain.
