Beyond the front door of this standout East Kempsey home, the owners have created greater internal floor space by utilising both side verandahs. The east side now incorporates an ensuite off the main bedroom that features a bath and pedestal basin of the period and upgraded with the addition of a shower. Whilst uncertain about the age of the home, it was known that during the Mid Victorian style period, decorating the exterior of your home began to gain popularity. The bullnose veranda roof was introduced, sidelights were added either side of the front door and one of the favoured elaborations was the filigree, or screen, of cast iron or wrought iron as seen on the verandah of this home. Maybe sections of the original filigree have since been removed but the appeal still remains. At the same time pressed metal ceilings and wall sheeting replaced the timber weatherboard interiors mostly seen in homes in this area.
