Rural Property description
“Aquaculture Fish Farm Abalone”
Phone Enquiry Property ID: 1530 (Quote when call or text)
The opportunity is for an investor to purchase an existing fully licenced marine Aquaculture site and business for a fraction of the cost of development. The business has been focussed on Abalone and is ideally suited to other forms of marine aquaculture such as Finfish, Shellfish, Seaweed (Marine Algae) or Urchin ranching.
An Abalone and Finfish farm established by Australian Ocean Biotechnology was established at the AbTas site in 1999. Over the following 22 years the site has been developed as an Abalone breeding, growout and marketing business producing 20-35 tonne of premium Abalone a year which in recent years has been profitable. Over the last 4 years the site has been expanded with additional grow-out tanks and recently improved pumping infrastructure to expand future production to 50-60 tonne of Abalone.
The site is flat with ample power and licenses with a secure long-term lease from the Tasmanian Port Authority. Currently the business uses only about 1/3 of the site available and has full hatchery facilities with algal production capable of supplying a fully developed site or ancillary production of other species. There are temperature-controlled conditioning tanks and algal culture tanks. The Nursery has a large number of juvenile production tanks and filtered water supply. The pump shed has 2 large 630mm intake pipes with multiple pump backups, variable speed drive and large backup generator.
This is a great site to scale existing Abalone production or diversify Aquaculture production with a site that has ample land, pumping capacity and power for expansion or diversification. Please make contact with Paul Soldo with questions or to receive an information memorandum.
