What's around Gordon Street

House description

“Charming home across from the old train station”

Older federation style home in well located street in Kojonup with an easy walk to IGA and cafes. This 1950's built three bedroom one bathroom home has had an updated kitchen with dishwasher included. Airconditioned, plenty of storage. Easy care back yard with access at the rear of the property to a gradual creek and a quick stroll to the hotel and the Chinese Van for a quick meal on Friday nights.

Owner supplied information:

"The house is named "Franeker" with the name from the city in the Netherlands when Jan Jorritsma came from. Janis was a Dutch immigrant and he and his wife and Nancy were (I believe) storekeepers in Kojonup, and had the house built in the 50's. It might be cool to remind potential homebuyers that the house has cracks because it is 60 years old… but it also has a story because it is 60 years old. Jan died in 1984, but Nancy was up at Leschenaultia house for a time until she passed away, and she had in her room a photo of her son, which was taken in front of the fireplace and shelves that are in the big lounge room, same as today. The stained-glass windows are all original, and the ceiling roses. Nancy recalled planting the camelia and fuchsia bushes which are out the front and look amazing around the Kojonup show time. We entered the Camelia's into the show one year! The reticulation keeps those plants going, and they are very low care! It is an amazing summer house, I bought it on a summers day as it was so cool inside! We have put insulation into the house."
"The location is extremely handy as Luke was able to park a semi-trailer out the front (or in-line at CBH if he was delivering there) and I walked to the shops (or the Black Cockatoo) most days. Now the Shire have put in a new footpath which is amazing! I used to have to walk the pram along the road. The kids wished we still lived there as it is so close to the swimming pool and skate park, and the school. We also had chooks in the pen, and the large veggie patch was amazing, due to the full sun area down the back. The lawn grows with wild abandon over winter months (due to the retic) so the regular lawn-mowing is a must! The huge, shed outside is perfect, as it has power and a concrete floor."
"We think it is an amazing house and was a perfect starter house for our small family."
