The archaeologist knew she could excavate this buried treasure and the artist recognised its aesthetic potential. 'We wanted to restore not renovate, to retain the functionality and essence of mid-century architecture while creating a sustainable comfortable home'.

Now the asbestos cladding has been replaced, giving an opportunity to fully insulate the house while retaining the original internal Masonite panels. The original aluminium windows have been replaced with modern double glazing. The beautiful hardwood floor is on show, and an extra deck has been added for sunset drinks. The studio is nestled in the native garden that surrounds the house.
