What's around Strickland Avenue

House description

“Flexible Family Home With Two Titles”

Perched in sought-after South Hobart, this remarkable property offers breathtaking, uninterrupted views of Kunanyi and the iconic Organ Pipes - enjoy them right from your dining room table.

Sitting on a substantial 2,066m² parcel of land, the property also features a large, fenced backyard perfect for children and pets. The front section, bordering Strickland Avenue, boasts mature trees and established gardens and is on a separate title of an additional 707m2 (2,773m2 total combined), offering the option to sell as a standalone residential block, or the site for a second dwelling.

The main home is a generously proportioned brick and tile family residence, spanning approximately 500m².

Upstairs, you'll find three spacious bedrooms, two toilets, and a large family bathroom. An internal staircase leads to a fully self-contained flat downstairs, ideal for teenagers, extended family, or even rental income. This level also has separate access via the backyard or garage for added convenience.

Two wood heaters - one upstairs and one downstairs - ensure the home stays warm and cozy throughout the winter months.

The lower level further impresses with a double garage, workshop, storage areas, and a private enclosed courtyard. But the standout feature is the enormous 12m x 6m fully enclosed pool (bringing the total floor space of the property to around 605m2). Previously operated as the South Hobart Swim Centre, this facility includes two change rooms with showers and toilets, along with external access to the car parking area. Imagine the possibilities - run your own swim school, wellness centre, or simply create the ultimate home entertainment space (STCA).

Despite its serene, bushland setting surrounded by picturesque nature, this property is just a 14-minute drive to Hobart's CBD. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the nearby nature trails, perfect for walking, bike riding, and immersing yourself in the stunning scenery South Hobart is known for.

Adding to the appeal, a Metro bus stop at the top of the driveway ensures effortless travel to the city.

This property is a unique combination of stunning natural beauty, family comfort, and versatile potential - don't miss this rare opportunity to make it your own.

Suburb review from the agent

Harcourts Hobart

South Hobart is Hobart's first suburb

Settled by the merchant and professional classes in the 1800s, who wanted to get away from the noise and smell of Hobarton, South Hobart is Hobart's first suburb and home to many of the most beautiful homes in Hobart, including the classical Georgian residence of Milton and the Henry Hunter-designed Ashleigh. The oldest brewery in Australia, the Cascade Brewery still operates and tourists visit the historic Female Factory which was an institution to reform female convicts around the mid 1800s. A strong sense of community and ‘village-like’ culture exists in what many call SoHo. For a city-fringe suburb it is very leafy with bush trails for walkers and cyclists leading all the way to the top of iconic Kunanyi (Mount Wellington), and its not surprising there is a high proportional Green vote here. Before the Southern Outlet, travellers to the Huon Valley would pass through South Hobart and to this day there are many residents who move to and from these locations through their life stages. Apart from walking distance to the City CBD, other conveniences include South Hobart Primary School, a restaurant, café, and pub strip with local grocery and post office.
