Here at Wavecrest Drive he designed a generational beach shack that pays homage to its seaside location and embraces a quintessentially Australian take on feng shui.

Approached by a long private driveway and with a nearby path to the beach in sight, the topography and position in the cup of the valley, delivers a half moon ocean view from either of the two eastern decks, main bedroom and living room. No need for a mower or leaf blower in this coastal habitat. This is a beach retreat of the highest order. Ironbark .2m square posts sit in steel stirrups and concrete footings anchor a beachcomber's haven seemingly floating in the landscape.

A concrete slab has a lock up roller door storage for bikes, boards and wet gear. There's a sliding gate hardstand to suit two 4WD height vehicles. This is your island-like escape where you can grab your swimsuit, stroke for the wave of the day, enjoy an enriching walk on the dog-friendly beach and as the sun sets, finish with a cocktail of choice and shot of sea breeze for good measure. The curve of the zinc aluminium roof and weathered nature of the exterior timber and metal lend credence to a beach house that's lived well within its environment. With very little effort and a reliable handyperson with an eye for quality, it will become your dreamy window to the sea as a permanent, part time, or let's go-to-the-beach weekend escape.

An enclosed stairwell has twin door access and a wall of angled glass draws light to a timber stairwell. Everything is subdued yet structurally underlined by integrated furnishing, timber ventilation panels, sash windows, fixed glass lining curved roofs skillfully framing the native vegetation of the fence free land. A large timber slatted open air shower steps to a picture window bathing room replete with stand-alone bath fit for a king or queen and a large waterfall shower head behind frameless glass.

There are two bedrooms along the eastern elevation. The main and second bedrooms have floor-to-ceiling built-in cupboards and the laundry is well set up behind concertina doors in the bathroom. A robust galley kitchen has four burner gas hob, under bench electric oven, dishwasher and gas strut window servery. Timber beams extend the ships prow-shaped verandahs, with a mix of hopper, sash and sliding glass doors and windows are fitted with screens for open window nights and a soundtrack of the sea for company.
