The picturesque winery is located in Melbourne's North-East Ranges. It is a pleasant 1 hour and 24 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD. The grapes are grown organically and the wine is produced using a six-generation-old technique, with no added preservatives. The Flowerdale collection offers a range of red and white wines, ports, liqueurs and infused spirits.Flowerdale Winery have attracted attention for their specialty wines, including Spicy Chilli Shiraz, Mulled Wine, Mead and Sangria and also make a range of fruit liqueurs including watermelon, quince, ginger port. Their infused spirits include chocolate vodka, and strawberry cream liqueur.The total land area is approximately 40.25 acres, including nearly 6.2 acres of vines.The winery used to produce high quality limited release wines with distinctive varietal and regional character. The operation allowed each process of wine making, from producing and picking, to pressing and bottling, to be carried out by hand with particular attention. The wine making was unique in that each step was performed without any additives which speed up processes and change the character of the natural grape.The winery was destroyed in fire in 2009. Fortunately, most of the vines were spared so it is business as usual (well almost). The cellar door is still closed however tastings can be made at the stall at Queen Victoria Market.
