The house has been recently painted, and the roof and the electrics have been upgraded. Two rainwater tanks provide ample storage. At the bottom of the block a spring fed stream runs all year. An outdoor sink and tap are handy for cleaning those freshly caught fish.

The community of Southport is situated in one of the prettiest areas of the Huon Valley - white sandy beaches with clear turquoise waters, wild walks up to high peaks or through thick rainforest to caves and tannin rivers. Monthly pizza night gatherings at the community centre are popular and a good way to connect with others living nearby. The house is within close walking distance to the Southport tavern, the general store and the jetty. Situated on a no-through road, it is quiet and peaceful even in the height of summer.
