Life on the farm, on the banks of the Hastings River is a truly delightful experience. The stresses and pressures of the modern world seem small and insignificant when your're feeding the animals, strolling across the road for a fish or riding your horse or motor bike.
Properties with this much land, 10.30 hectares, so close the Port Macquarie (approx. 15km to the CBD) don't come up every day. There's no ferry crossings, just sealed roads all the way.
The house for all practical purposes is two houses in one, at each end, there is a living room, kitchen and bathroom which is ideal for larger families, or for when friends and family come to stay. You could possibly even Airbnb one side of the house for extra income. The North to rear aspect is ideal for taking advantage of the winter sun.
The gardens around the house are well established. There's even a stable, which juts into the backyard, so your horse can look over the rails and smile at you. There are well established gardens which include orange, mandarine, grapefruit, lemon, macadamia, pecan, fig and banana trees, as well as grape and passionfruit vines.
The paddocks are broken up into three distinct sections. There are four dams servicing the property, as well as a small water licence (5 units). Other things of note include a grass tennis court, solar power system, three rainwater tanks, cattle yards and a variety of sheds and storage shipping containers with more than enough room to store all your toys. There's even a car hoist so you can do your own car maintenance.
For me its a bit sad to see the property go on the market as its my parents' property and I've absolutely loved spending time there over the last 25 years (agent declares interest). I'm going to miss going for a long walks down to Blackmans Point and paddling my kayak up to Dennis bridge to fish, picking fruit and working on the farm. It's been life at its best.
But it's time to go and someone else will get the opportunity to experience such a wonderful lifestyle.
I will disclose the property did flood two years ago, and I believe its the first time the house ever flooded, as was the case with so many other homes in the Hastings in 2021.
Nevertheless, if the ebb and flow of life near ther river appeals to you, if you want to be part of a rural community but still want space around you as well as the convenience of easy access to shops, schools and medical facilities then Blackmans Point is the place for you.
