House description

“ANOTHER PROPERTY UNDER CONTRACT BY PETER LEES REAL ESTATE”

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you to own a magnificent stone cottage steeped in convict history that has been lovingly restored. Set in the amazing township of Ross, the cottage has been painstakingly restored with no detail missed. The product is a 3 bedroom cottage that shows off all its excellent rustic details and is enhanced by the necessary creature comforts. These include a stunning modern kitchen and an amazing bathroom complete with sauna.
The wow hits you the moment you open the door to be greeted by stone walls built by convicts and polished floorboards that flow throughout the home. The bedrooms are all big and beautiful. All 3 have lovely chandeliers, 2 have original ornate fireplaces and the main has built in robes and a study hub. The lounge / dining room has a large wood fire that heats the house and creates a cosy atmosphere. The home was built in the 1830's and renovated approx 2012. All the wiring and plumbing has been replaced.
Directly out the backdoor is a lovely stone courtyard and outdoor entertaining area. This is complimented with beautiful flowers beds and a pebble walkway that leads to a larger area with off street parking for 3 cars or more. No lawns to mow here.
Out the back is also where you will find "Papa's Place". A separate stone cabin, with 1 bedroom, a cute bathroom and private entry, off the side street. This cabin could be perfect to be as separate accommodation for family or friends or used as a B&B. Next to the separate entry via the side street there is private parking right by the door. Papa's Place also features its own private courtyard which then leads to another secret garden.
The whole area captures beautiful hues during the day and is bathed in sunlight each afternoon. Sitting in the main street means it is a stones throw to all conveniences and has fantastic tourism opportunities.

History
The stone cottage was originally built by the Bacon Family and consequently named Bacon Cottage. The Bacons were stonemasons and bricklayers who arrived in Hobart in 1833. They worked on properties around the district such as Beaufront and Mona Vale. The entire corner was originally owned by the Bacon family and used as a store, residence, and bakery. The store was converted to create the Church in 1920.
