40 Forest Road New Italy was originally occupied by the Nardi family, who were one of the original Italian Migrant families to make this area home. There are still a few traces of their presence on the property that have been Heritage Listed. These being the two wells at the front of the property, the original raised grape vine mounds on the southern side of the cleared area. The property was also the site of St Peters Church. The parcel of land that this church sat on was donated by the Nardi Family. The church has since been removed but if you look hard enough, you will find what remains of the building stumps not far down the Mahogany Road boundary of the property.
