Rural Property description
“Historic Dyraaba Station Homestead”
Circular stone drives and pathways lead off the driveway in the main house paddock. The cattleyards are a reminder of the days when Dyraaba's original 80,000 Hectares was a centre of a vast cattle empire.
Dyraaba's grounds ramble with a garden full of trees and plants. There is the scent of Frangapanni and Jasmine throughout the garden air. An old tank has been converted to a bird and human bath and is still enjoyed to this day by adults and kids alike. Stone pathways ramble through gardens to vege patches and places that have had secret hidey holes for every generation.
Dyraaba Station was established in 1840 by the Barnes family, it was once the great squatters run of the Richmond Valley. Now the remaining 150 acres, with the original homestead and buildings combined with nearly 200 years of history make a beautiful home and wonderful cattle property. The outbuildings form an inner courtyard which you can imagine once may have bustled with children playing in the gardens while men worked cattle across the surrounding hills bringing them to the cattleyards near the homestead. This is a tranquil and quiet setting where your imagination can run.
The homestead and outbuildings still stand as a testament to the quality craftsmanship and the hand sawn hardwoods used. The verandahs offer beautiful views over most of the property from the elevated position.
Fast forward to today and the inner courtyard and buildings are the same. The owners grandchildren roam thought the gardens, play on the tennis court, cool off in the troughs and collect the eggs from the chooks which call the old stallion stables home. A new deck off the old kitchen takes advantage of the North East aspect. With the 3 homes the owners have also used the property for tourism which is still untapped.
Even today historic "Dyraaba Station" offers an insight into Australia's rural heritage. The 150 acres is home to 50 Angus and Wyagu cows and calves which roam through the rolling fertile country in a relaxed manner, resting under the enormous trees, some of which are thought to be over 200 years old.
The cows and calves that lay claim to the fertile rolling paddocks of Dyraaba graze through some 14 paddocks. The cattle are quiet and healthy often resting under the figs on the northern side of the house paddock after drinking from the cool clear waters of Dyraaba Creek.
You cannot help but feel relaxed here. Birdlife creates a song on the breeze as they nest and explore the figs and pines as old as and older than the homestead itself. The townships of Kyogle and Casino which were founded at the same time are only a few minutes' drive or head over to Bryon Bay or Ballina which are only around 100km.
"Dyraaba Station" is a legendary part of Australia's pastoral heritage, having been owned by the pioneering Barnes Family. Today "Dyraaba Station" offers a chance to secure the stewardship of a piece Australia's pastoral history.
