What's around Shelley Street

House description

“Ticks every box!”

This is one of of those rare opportunities to score a heritage home on a massive block in an awesome street filled with other awesome heritage homes.
We all know the Ipswich streets famous for their heritage homes. Woodend Road, Quarry Street, York Street, Murphy Street, the list goes on, but a little known street in Brassall called Shelley Street is a hidden gem. When you think of Brassall, heritage homes don't normally spring to mind, but Brassall has some of Ipswich's best character homes. Originally called Hungry Flats (No, not Hungry Jacks) Brassall was mostly farming and some of the original old farm houses still exist. This home was owned by the Shelley family who the street was named after making it own of the oldest in the street.
The street is not free from drama though. During my research into the history of this home, I came across a disturbing article from 1922, when a young boy named Norman Meggitt, tripped over a dog while running and cut his knee. Ambulance bearers were summoned and he was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment. WOW! Obviously a quiet news day in 1922. Anyway, back to the house, which is why you're reading this.

The current owners have lived here since the 1970's and apart from a few things like new kitchen, double garage shed and air con etc, the place is virtually untouched. The rooms that have 1960's lino on the floor have the original 1920s lino under that. And who knows what under that?
This home would have had wider than normal verandahs on the front, back and side. And speaking of verandahs, the front that was built-in in the 70's still have the original posts. So to turn it back to a verandah, all you have to do is take out the glass and put the railings back in. Easy Peasy.

The yard is huge. 1518m2! yep, thats not a typo. Do I hear subdivisions ? Also in the yard is double car garage with power. Do I hear Man Cave?

If you want this place you better act now because it will go fast. We will be selling this home using our Exclusive Click2Offer system so if you want to make an offer, ask me for an invite to participate. See you at the house ;)
