Eyre Street is the original, main street of Townsville and North Ward is known as the earliest established suburb. According to the late, Townsville historian, Dorothy Gibson-Wilde, it was possible that the home was transported to its current location in Eyre Street from Charters Towers in the mid-late 1800's.
