Renowned architect Bill Lucas designed & built “The Glasshouse" as his family home (Circa 1957) a Mid – Century modernist in its purest form. As a member of the “Sydney School" of architects his philosophy was to integrate with nature, with a minimalist aesthetic featuring glass and timber while emphasising the relationship between interior and exterior, a seminal example of “shelter in nature". Lucas selected a steep rocky waterfront reserve site backing pristine bushland reserve to construct a home that was suspended above the flora amidst the tree canopy.
