What's around Denison Street

House description

“'Coniston' - Prime Village Location with Charm and Comfort”

With postcard-worthy street appeal and a rich backstory as a former worker's cottage, Coniston is a gorgeous late 1800s charmer nestled in the heart of South Hobart village.

The home has been tastefully enhanced with a brand new kitchen and appliances, along with thoughtful refurbishments to the bathroom and rear sunroom. These recent upgrades elevate comfort while preserving the soulful character of the home.

Inside, you'll find original timber floors, high ceilings, and a contemporary colour palette that complements the home's heritage. The floorplan flows sensibly and feels surprisingly spacious, with sunlight streaming through and spectacular views to the Organ Pipes of kunanyi ever-present in the background.

Cosy warmth is provided by a stylish period-style wood heater and oven combination, while a reverse cycle air conditioner ensures year-round ease. Original open fireplaces in the bedrooms and lounge remain as beautiful decorative features.

The sunny backyard, accessed via Cameron Street, offers a generous and private garden with a level lawn and established greenery represents a lovely place to entertain or relax without feeling overwhelmed by weekend maintenance.

A roller door garage provides secure off-street parking, a rare and valuable bonus in this tightly held area.

From here, stroll to South Hobart's gourmet grocer, cafés, wine bars and local shops in just minutes. Schools, parks, the Cascade Gardens and the Rivulet walking and cycling track to the city are all within easy reach, as is the unmistakable sense of community that makes this suburb so sought after.

'Coniston' offers a rare blend of history, lifestyle and location and is perfect for professionals, small families or investors looking for a turn-key home in a blue chip position.

Harcourts - Hobart

South Hobart is Hobart's first suburb

Settled by the merchant and professional classes in the 1800s, who wanted to get away from the noise and smell of Hobarton, South Hobart is Hobart's first suburb and home to many of the most beautiful homes in Hobart, including the classical Georgian residence of Milton and the Henry Hunter-designed Ashleigh. The oldest brewery in Australia, the Cascade Brewery still operates and tourists visit the historic Female Factory which was an institution to reform female convicts around the mid 1800s. A strong sense of community and ‘village-like’ culture exists in what many call SoHo. For a city-fringe suburb it is very leafy with bush trails for walkers and cyclists leading all the way to the top of iconic Kunanyi (Mount Wellington), and its not surprising there is a high proportional Green vote here. Before the Southern Outlet, travellers to the Huon Valley would pass through South Hobart and to this day there are many residents who move to and from these locations through their life stages. Apart from walking distance to the City CBD, other conveniences include South Hobart Primary School, a restaurant, café, and pub strip with local grocery and post office.
