The back boundary adjoins Castle Cary Regional Reserve, which is known to attract lapidary enthusiasts, and hikers with many signposted tails through the Reserve and surrounding National Parks. Part of this amazing block was utilized by the historical Leona Tin Mine which operated until the 1900's. Other lucky finds have included Gold, Smokey Quartz, sapphire, and Jasper.

Avoca is 1 hr from Launceston and 25 minutes from Campbell Town and less than 1 hr to Scamander Beach. Avoca has a Petrol Station, Take Away Food and small grocery store.
