This 81ha (200 acres) Rita Island property has 70ha (172 acres) of cultivation and currently growing Sugar Cane, Hay, and now Beans under flood irrigation. Water supply comes from two 6 electric centrifugal pumps on bores and a 6 open water electric pump on a large lagoon on the property supplied from the Lower Burdekin Water board pumps in the Burdekin River. The farm has a 400 megalitre open water entitlement which is charged at $19.01 per megalitre above the area rate of $132.63 per ha for the cultivated area. If Sugar cane is grown Wilmar Sugar subsidies this rate by $43.77 per ha. There is also a smaller 3 diesel driven centrifugal pump and an electric jet pump to supply domestic supply and garden needs.
