Soil type is the feature here. This is an open, clean block, mostly cleared, with a slow, gentle undulation of mostly 'Salmon' gum and quality 'Mallee' country which has proven to be ideal for both crop and livestock production.
The current owners have farmed here for five years with an emphasis on a sustainable, full crop rotation, that has included lupins and on occasion 'chemical fallow' to support wheat and barley crops. The results show a very well presented property which includes 175 hectares sown to lupins this year to help set up the 2023 season.
Recent soil testing from one paddock has resulted in 2 tonne per hectare being applied this year. Full chemical paddock records are available and there has been no use of 'Intervix' in recent years. A typical compound fertiliser regime has been 30kg/ha of MAP or 50 kg/ha plus follow up nitrogen. General practice has been to 'windrow' and burn all paddocks.
The property is connected to scheme water which supplies a 22000 litre poly boom-fill tank and there are four dams as back up for livestock.
