The Rock has a range of soil types from heavy black basalt types to rich reddish basalt soils. The river flats are highly fertile, heavy black and red alluvial types. The topography varies from soft and level river flats with a double frontage to the Coolahburragundy River to sloping cultivation country. The country then rises to sloping undulating grazing country to hilly grazing country.
Timber consists of predominately Box, Kurrajong and Apple on the basalt soil types to some Ironbark and Pine on the lighter soil types. Rainfall 650 millimetres pa (26 inches) approximately. Water is a feature with double frontage to the Coolahburragundy River, as well as an extensive reticulated water scheme throughout the property.
