Ever dream of moving to the country, living healthily, happily and sustainably?

Well its your turn to live the dream!

Scarecrow Farm is a sensational little piece of paradise located on the fringe of Turners Marsh, just 20kms from the Launceston CBD, 15kms from Mowbray shopping precinct and 10kms from the township of Lilydale.

You’re only a 25-minute drive to the closest beach and a 5-minute drive to the nearest vineyard from Scarecrow Farm.

The farm is right near the heart of the North Eastern Wine Route where you’ll not only find loads of award winning Tassie wines, but there are also internationally acclaimed Mountain Bike Trails and Golf Courses nearby.

You can forage for local pepper berries and enjoy picking your own strawberries, youngberries and blue berries at home or neighbouring farms who let you pick your own.

How about trade vegetables and meat with your neighbours?

We do!
Scarecrow Farm is a lifestyle property combining a stylish farm-house situated in an elevated position off the main road with arguably the best views of the Karoola valley in the district.

The farm boasts 55 acres , including areas of Wet Sclerophyll Forest, Eucalypt Native Forest, natural creeks and fields of pasture.

We even have our own resident family of platypus!

North Easterly facing, with year round spring water supply and good annual rainfall this property lends itself to a wide range of agricultural pursuits and opportunities.

The Farm- House:

• Space is no issue with four large bedrooms. Three bedrooms are downstairs with one large bathroom which includes a bath, shower, toilet and double vanity.
• The fourth bedroom is huge with beautiful views and is upstairs, with a large ensuite including a shower and double vanity.
• There is an easy access walk in robe area or storage area.
• There is an opening skylight window upstairs to enable cool air flow in the summer.
• The laundry houses a third toilet and is accessible via both an internal and external entry door.
• Natural light floods into the open plan living, dining and kitchen, and is incapsulated by magnificent views on all sides while providing room and comfort for all.
• The kitchen is home to a Belling induction stove with two ovens and an LG dishwasher. There is a bifold café window over the sink and bench area that opens onto the large deck, making it easy to entertain and still be included in the social atmosphere while preparing culinary delights.
• The living area is heated with a Nectre Wood Heater, which is also used to cook on during the winter months. Nothing like coming inside from chilly winter day to a hot pot or some hearty soup cooking away on the wood heater. There is also a Daikin Heat Pump for when you don’t get an opportunity to light the fire.
• 2 sets of French doors open onto the timber deck where the views of surrounding gardens, the valley and mountains are highlighted.
• The elevated timber deck surrounds the Northern and Eastern sides of the house and is draped in magical Clematis vines overlooking the 100-year-old Pear trees in the paddocks.
• The living area floors are stunning, made of beautiful Myrtle timber which have just been sanded and sealed this week.
• The bathrooms and laundry floors are all parquetry.
• There is carpet upstairs, in the hallway and the bedrooms.
• There are amazing views from every room except the downstairs bathroom. No need to ever put the blinds down. Beaut views during the daylight hours and just as serene views of the moon coming up over the mountain of an evening.
• Part of the house is over 100 years old; it was renovated and tastefully restyled retaining many original features in 2006.

Infrastructure:

• A hay/machinery shed which used to be a dairy many years ago
• A 12-month-old 3 bay Colourbond American Barn. The barn measures 10m x 10m and has 1 open bay.
• A carport for two cars
• Solar panels (5.4kw) are on top of the carport and garage
• There is a double garage, of which one side has been insulated and plastered, to be used as an extra room for storage, bungalow or rumpus area.
• There is a large duck pen and duck house which is home to the ducks of an evening.
• There are several animal homes for chooks, orphaned lambs, or rescued animals.
• There is a large fenced vegetable garden incorporating some raised garden beds, and netted areas.
• The fences were all renewed two years ago, along with new gates. There is an electric fence unit for the electric fences.

The gardens:

• The cottage garden is home to many bird species, and even a little family of rabbits. There are lots of Wrens, Robbins, Parrots, Finches, Honey Eaters and other small birds in the garden. The many varieties of bees are busy in the flowers all year round.
• The vegetable garden produces well. It is home to some Perennial vegetables and fruits such as Rhubarb, Strawberries, Young Berries, Passionfruit and herbs.
• The fruit trees provide an abundance of produce and include varieties of apples, figs, nectarines, greengages, plums, pears, feijoas, blueberries, a young pomegranate, limes, lemons, oranges, mandarins, red currants, gooseberries, lemon verbena and lots of herbs. There are wild blackberries along the creeks to be picked in the summer.
• There is a majestic big Oak tree that provides shade in the summer, lets the sunshine through its bear branches in the winter and provides delicious acorns for the animals in the Autumn.

The Farm:

• There is so much terrific shelter for the animals on the farm. The forest areas and the tree lined creeks provide shade, shelter from the wind and some extra food.
• Man Ferns, Native Clematis, Backwoods, Sags, stands of Teatree, Silver Wattles, Banksia, Native Bush Currants and many other natives are growing on the farm.
• There is a small waterhole and a medium sized waterhole that could be easily made bigger if required.
• There are many soaks and lots of water running underground and in the creeks that could be accessed if needed for crops or market garden interests.
• The views are a delight from every angle on the farm. The farm backs onto the Dismal Ranges and there is a great walk, horse ride or bike ride right outside the back gate to the tower at the top of the mountain.
• There are regular visits from a family of Wedge Tail Eagles, a big Sea Eagle in the rough weather, a Goshawk who likes to stay for a few days when he comes, Owl friends of an evening (love listening to Boobook), Falcons, Kestrels, Rosellas and others.
• The creeks and dams have resident Platypus playing and nipping the feet of the ducks along with the threatened Mount Arthur Burrowing Crayfish.
