"Demographic rapidly changing to young families"
Lived here 30 years. Old people are rapidly leaving and new young families moving in. Very little public housing

"Where All the Family Can Come Together"
Hughes is located 7 kms south west of Canberra. It has a local shopping centre which is adequate to meet the daily needs of the community with a supermarket, service station, bakery, chemist, newsagent, take away store, post office, dry cleaner, hairdresser and real estate agent. There are plenty of places to enjoy the outdoors including a tennis club, oval playgrounds and walking tracks. From some places in Hughes you can see over the Woden Valley all the way to the Brindabellas. It has kindergartens and primary schools as well as a retirement village. Everything is nice and close. It is a great place to raise a family.
