"Good Little Town"

As long as you are alright with a long train ride or car ride towards the city then this place is great. It's quite quiet but not in a bad way. There's a couple shops nearby so you don't need to go the town over too often. Gives you a taste of country without being as far out.

"Small green suburb which is losing it's charm"

I love hurstbridge and have visited my family here since I was a child. I was given the opportunity to take up a tenancy here recently and jumped at the chance. I broke lease at my other place to pursue a peaceful good sustainable green life.
But a few things to note if you happen to move here:
While it is full of trees, it is not necessarily very green. Every house seems to own at least 3 big cars,2 large dogs and a leaf blower. And you will be woken up by all of these things regularly.
I have also been woken up by gun shots, as apparently people go shooting in fields at 2am on Saturday mornings.
People still say that hursty is full of artists, but I can't see how that is possible when the energy of the place is becoming more agitated every year. I doubt I'll be staying as long as I had planned.
It's also a white area, with a bit of wealth about the place. So don't expect much diversity.

"A small country feel where life is good. Lovely people, nice shops with local operators. Fabulous food options. Love the lifestyle here."

A country feel with sufficient amenities. Local people shop here to support local small businesses. A great happy vibe with friendly people. Not many properties become available that often.

Great for

  • Train station
  • Bank
  • Market

"Great Community, unspoilt (so far) by development"

Great place to live, great community.

The single track railway keeps Hurstbridge from turning into just another suburb.
This along with its passionate community enables Hurstbridge to maintain its semi rural feel. (Just a shame it seems we have a council that is determined to try and destroy this by allowing inappropriate sub-division and development)

People are very friendly and Community minded with a diverse socio-economic mix.

Primary schools include both Hurstbridge Primary and Hurstbridge Learning Co-op, both excellent schools in different ways

Good mix of Cafes, shops and Restaurants

"Great village atmosphere!"

We moved to Hurstbridge nearly 4 years ago now and have loved the small village feel that Hurstbridge has. We commute to the city everyday for work and love the minute we drive back in the village. The community is friendly and the open space is a great palce to bring up kids or even retire away from burbs.

"Great spot"

When we moved here we felt like we'd stumbled onto the best kept secret in Melbourne. Been here for 4 years now and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's perfect.

"Great village with a strong community feel"

Hurstbridge is a delightful place to live, with rural a feel but close enough to commute to the city. It's quiet, beautiful and safe. The primary school is excellent.

"Loads of attractions and a diverse population"

Home to a diverse mixture of people from farmers and artists to commuters and tourists, Hurstbridge has a population of about three and a half thousand and is situated roughly 30km north east of the Melbourne central business district. Boasting attractions such as wineries, walking trails and markets, Hurstbridge is a fantastic location for families, retirees, professionals and those just passing through. The area has excellent train services that link it with the CBD as well as local football and cricket teams. The birthplace of race car legend Peter Brock, Hurstbridge is nestled between the towns of Doreen, Nutfield, Cottles Bridge, Panton Hill, Wattle Green, Diamond Creek and Yarrambat.
