Reviews of Kingston On Murray, SA
"The little town with a big heart"
Kingston is a very quiet town that is often overlooked. It lies between Waikerie and Barmera just a few kms detour off the Sturt Highway.
Kingston's main street runs parallel to the Murray River, and as it is up river from the Waikerie lock, the level of the river is still relatively good. The town boasts a general store/post office/take away shop, a primary school and a caravan park. Incidentally the general store make the best ever hamburgers.
It is approximately a 20 minute drive to Barmera or 30 mins to Waikerie. The best places to go out for a meal are either the Cobdogla or Morook clubs which are about 20 minutes away.
Banrock Station and Kingston Estate wineries are both on the outskirts of town.
If you are looking for the quiet life then this may be the town for you. There's nothing quite like sitting on the front verandah, soaking up the river atmosphere and watching the world pass you by.
