I heard it is very noisy due to its closeness to the railway line, esp the freight trains

The noise predominately comes from the freight trains (a couple each day) as opposed to the normal trains which are much quieter. It all depends on the location of the apartment.

Ideally you want an apartment that doesn't back on to the train line. There are many that have little to no exposure to the train line noise.
